Tim Morton and Tim Campbell two developers with extensive experience on games like Starcraft and World of Warcraft, formed Frost Giant in 2020 with the aim of creating the next incredible RTS which will have a lot of the team's talent buy WoTLK Gold, around 80% according to IGN which is a source from Blizzard. Kevin Dong, former lead co-op designer for Starcraft 2. told IGN that the main reason behind having an abundance of the former Blizzard employees is the demand for developers who have RTS previous experience.
"It is just a coincidence that Blizzard is one of the largest concentrations of these in the country, which means that we'd have a greater percent of ex-Blizzard employees." Dong said.
A lot of the former developers still have an intimate relationWarcraft along with Blizzard. Metzen remains a voice actor, as the former Horde Warchief, Thrall, for instance, and many remain positive about Blizzard. As IGN mentions in its report that many former Blizzard employees who left the company were not to be hesitant to harm their relationship with their former employer.
However, it's not like Blizzard's many departures are under the radar. Stories about Blizzard's culture change as well as the discontent over pay and layoffs have all helped create a picture of a company that might not be the best place to work as it once seemed. Even if that's not entirely true, it creates a narrative that may actually create a greater incentive for Blizzard talent to find a new job according to a source quoted in IGN's report.
"I almost think a lot of the factors that made it hard to poach Blizzard people stoppedhappening," the source said. "So it's becoming very simple to poach and many of the elderly people just move people around with them. Because , regardless of what the real situation is the people are enthralled by narrative. When the narrative reads something like this WoW WoTLK Classic Gold, and the place is getting worse, it's easy to convince people of abandoning it."
