Delta Airlines offers a program for unaccompanied minors to ensure their safety and comfort during travel. Here are the key details of Delta Airlines minor policy:
Age Requirements:
- Children ages 5 to 14 must travel as unaccompanied minors on domestic and international flights if they are not accompanied by a passenger who is at least 18 years old.
- Children ages 15 to 17 have the option to travel as unaccompanied minors but are not required to do so.
Flight Restrictions:
- Unaccompanied minors can only travel on nonstop flights. They are not permitted to travel on connecting flights or on the last flight of the day unless it is the only option.
Service Fee:
- Delta charges a service fee of $150 each way for unaccompanied minors, in addition to the cost of the ticket. This fee covers up to four children traveling together.
Booking and Check-in:
- The unaccompanied minor service must be booked by calling Delta Reservations or at a Delta ticket counter.
- During check-in, a parent or guardian must complete and sign a form providing information about the child and the person picking up the child at the destination.
Airport Procedures:
- The parent or guardian must escort the child to the gate and remain at the airport until the flight has departed.
- At the destination, the designated pick-up person must show identification and sign for the child at the gate.
In-flight and Arrival:
- Delta provides special amenities for unaccompanied minors, such as early boarding, introductions to the flight attendants, and periodic check-ins during the flight.
- Upon arrival, a Delta representative will escort the child to the designated pick-up person.
