Gentian violet is a synthetic dye mainly used in medicinal purposes. Gentian violet also known as crystal violet or methyl violet 10B. It belongs to triphenylmethane group of dyes. It was originally used as a textile dye than it was found to have medicinal properties.It is used to treat infections and wounds. Chemical name – Hexamethyl pararosaniline chloride Uses Medicial application – Antifungal – It is Primarily used to treat fungal infection like Candida.It is also used for conditions like ringworm.
