There are close to 290,000 applications for claiming the subsidies related to the recycling of the conventional water heater by replacing it with a new solar one. In fact, from May 11, when the platform was opened until last week, 280,724 applications had been submitted. The deadline for submitting applications is June 20. The budget of the specific program is 100 million euros. It is estimated that in order to satisfy the approximately 290,000 applications, resources of the order of 300 million euros are required. The final selection of beneficiaries will result from a combination of economic and social criteria: The subsidy is up to 60% of the purchase cost of each new solar water heater. Each beneficiary will receive a voucher, which they can redeem at a supplier of their choice. Installation costs are also included in the maximum grant amount for the beneficiaries.
