COMEX copper pricing increased for the $2. 80 per pound range initially within the news of the OUGH. S. and China reaching a partnership on Phase One of the trade agreement in December of this past year. The trader says which if COMEX pricing stays on the $2. 80 level, while it has for the first couple of weeks of January, it could help to bring out and about additional copper scrap. Nevertheless, he adds, “Some people are always waiting for the next big move. ”

A trader located in the Southwest agrees on this assessment. His company is actually exporting copper scrap, particularly available as birch/cliff (No. 2 truck driver wire/No. 2 copper solids along with tubing) to countries within Southeast Asia, Asia as well as Europe, he says. “They are buying for a very healthy spread, which informs you that even with the tariff there may be just good demand, ” he says regarding buyers for Chinese consumers in particular.
