Watercress or yellowcress is a species of aquatic flowering plant in the cabbage family, Brassicaceae. Watercress is a rapidly growing perennial plant native to Eurasia.

Watercress seeds produce a perennial creeping plant that is rich in vitamins and has a delicious, distinctive taste for salads and vegetarian dishes. The seeds are tiny, oval, brown specks that are best broad sown. Each pod contains 20+ seeds and each cluster of flowers has around 20 seed pods. To grow watercress, direct-seed the seeds about 5mm deep and 1cm apart, ideally in full sun near clear running water.
