I know some people disagree with an arena Dark And Darker Gold, but at least a training room you can hang out with your friends in would be amazing for
taking a break from a huge loss or just wanting to chill and mess around.
I wouldn't say the gameplay loop is addicting. Each good game has it's "honeymoon phase", which is the first couple weeks where
everything is fresh and new and exciting and fun. And the honeymoon phase always ends, and if people stick around after that
largely depends on how fun the current endgame loop is, and how fast developers bring new content in to keep the game fresh.
Dark and Darker currently has never left it's honeymoon phase. The fact that each playtest only lasted a little bit over a week
was just enough to put players into the honeymoon phase and then rip the game out of their fingers as soon as that phase was about
to end, followed by several months of forced gameplay pause to then give the game back with a little bit more fresh, new content
which triggered the honeymoon phase all over again.
What I am saying is... this "addicted" feeling to the game right now is misleading for most people. I don't know about you, but I
could feel my will to keep grinding the game 8 hours every day waning on the final two days of each play test, and I am pretty
sure if the playtests would have rolled on for a week longer, I would have played maybe only an hour or two for the last 5 days of
it.
I don't find the gameplay loop we had in the playtests very addicting or grasping. Go in, get loot, do a bit of pvp, get out.
Rinse, repeat. With almost no amount of horizontal progression to keep me engaged longterm (improving skills, building up a
hideout, building up a player guild, building up a meaningful stash, completing long quest chains or a story campaign, completing
grindy achievements etc.) cheap Dark And Darker Gold.
