In 2005, the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Raju Pal shocked the nation. Pal, a prominent leader from the state of Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead in broad daylight on June 27, 2005. The incident took place in the busy market area of Allahabad, where Pal had gone to attend a wedding.
