Balaji Vishwanath Bhatt, also known as Baji Rao I, was a prominent Maratha general and statesman who played a crucial role in expanding the Maratha Empire in India during the 18th century. He served as the Peshwa or prime minister of the Maratha Empire from 1713 until his death in 1740.
